JPEG
- ‘Lossy’ (Small and looses detail)
- Commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images, particularly for those images produced by digital photography.
- Compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality.
TIF
- Lossless/Large image
- Storing raster graphics images.
- Popular among graphic artists, the publishing industry, and photographers.
RAW
- Can’t directly edit this type of file format, unless using photo processing to manipulate, e.g. photoshop.

A camera raw image file contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, image scanner, or motion picture film scanner.
- ‘Raw ingredients’-have to convert to TIF or JPEG if want to export it and upload on internet, for example.
